The tumescent technique is performed by injecting the targeted areas of fat with a mix of different medications in a saline fluid just prior to surgery to help freeze the area, shrink blood vessels (so less bruising post-operatively) and to help the removal of the fat. Dr. Antoniak then employs the micro-aire power assisted lipoplasty equipment to gently remove the fat. Because of the power, the cannula size is much smaller than conventional methods which means the incisions are tiny and can be placed in inconspicuous places.

 

Liposuction is a safe, successful surgery performed in Dr. Antoniak's private accredited Surgicentre. Under twilight sedation provided by an anesthetist, the procedure takes between 1 - 2 hours depending on the size of the area to be treated. Recovery is supervised by a RN on a one-to-one basis.
